**LODD** March 21,1986 - 9 Alarms Box 7413 (Telegraph Hill, South Boston) - Fire in a 3-story dwelling. Heavy fire condition on the first floor extended up. FireFighter Edward R. Connolly of Ladder Co. 17 was killed when the fire building collapsed into the street about 15 minutes after this photo was taken. I believe he was acting as a Chief's Aide the night of the fire.

June 1986 - Rescue 1 and a truck company use a saw to gain entry to a fire in an autobody shop at 148 Dorchester Avenue in South Boston.

**RESCUES MADE** June 1986 - All Companies Working at a fire off of Blue Hill Ave (Box#, Street, etc. lost to time) in Mattapan. Report of people trapped. At least one adult occupant jumped from an upper floor window. I heard a FF yell "Where's H&H, I got one!" and swung around to snap this photo (bad focus I know). A member of Rescue-2 rescued this unconscious child from the building. I do not know whether the child made it or not but as I recall at least one person died at this fire.

As misfortune would have it, the two first-due Engines and the first-due Truck (E39, 21 & L18) were all committed to other stills at the time the box was struck. District 6 arrived by himself and found a significant fire in the alley off Dexter St opposite the Andrew Square MBTA Station. He transmitted three alarms as the fire communicated to three buildings while he waited for the first companies to arrive. Five Alarms were transmitted on Box 7234 in total for this fire. Here the District Chief and his Aide observe conditions in the alley. My guess would be he has transmitted the Working Fire and is radioing a report or orders to the incoming companies...

District 6 arrived by himself and found a significant fire in the alley off Dexter St opposite the Andrew Square MBTA Station. District 6 watching the fire burn into the 3rd floor of the building on the corner. Still no companies. Its worth mentioning here that it was a windy night and all three of the exposed buildings were shingled with asphalt shingles (often referred to at least around here as "gasoline shingles"). The speed and ferocity with which this fire grew is understandable under these conditions.

Another little story here - there was a brief delay between the previous photo and this one as one of the guys riding with me that night (Mike) pulled an occupant out of the open red door you see in the image here. I turned around and saw him disappearing briefly into the doorway and emerging with a male who Mike had heard yelling for help. We grabbed one of Boston's Finest and 'suggested' an "H&H" (ambulance) might be in order. Note the progress the fire has made during that time. My guess would be approximately 3-5 minutes between these two photos.
