A tragic early morning 4 Alarm blaze claimed the life of one resident and forced others to escape through windows. At least one other resident was rescued from a porch roof over a ground ladder thrown by responding firefighters. The fire in the 3-story 140-year-old house appears to have started on the 2nd floor in the front of the house and then communicated throughout much of the 2nd and 3rd floors eventually extending through the roof. Firefighters from several surrounding cities & towns worked for hours to extinguish the flames. The State Fire Marshal's office is investigating.
